The Brunswick Building

Best Upper Floor Residential Rehabilitation

Built in downtown Newark in the 1880s, the Brunswick Building was originally home to the Brunswick Club. Long abandoned, filled high with piles of trash, and struck by lightning, the building was suffering major structural issues. Thankfully, Liz Argyle took on the rehabilitation project and converted the poorly maintained Brunswick Building so it now hosts commercial space on the first floor and a gorgeous apartment on the second and third floors. Liz has been fearless in her approach to using state and federal historic tax credits, and serves as a model to people throughout Ohio of how small developers can make use of the financial incentive to improve their downtowns.

The award was presented to Liz Argyle.
